1)How to make it better
2) Suggestions on how to drive traffic to it.

Simple site but good, you should add random beautiful backgrounds about cities, it will better and nice. To drive traffic to your website, you also need to promote on forum like this forum or other communities or networks.

Simple and nice, I would move the main container box a little bit up so the background of the box would be only blue and so the city picture would be more visible. I would also change the white color of the box from white to light silver.

To drive traffic you need to do SEO and SEM.

Feels like Twitter, which is just fine. Like they say, design like the rest of the big dogs. Could be something good if you promote it right.

Overall your site pretty good but I think you should change the position of pop up window "Connect and Share with people from any city" from center to corner which aid readability and the people able to see complete homepage picture and look standard.
