Hi

I recently acquired

32 core INTEL XEON server
64gb DDR4 ram
8TB SATA
10gbit port

However speedtest-cli seems to only really pick up a speed test of around 1500 Mbit/s symmetrical

Anyone else have a dedicated server that is on a 10gbit port?
It is definitely connected to a 10gbit as it says it is when I run command ethtool on centos.

It does say auto negotiation is on for the connection so I guess it only grabs the bandwidth when it actually needs it or ?

Appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this for me.

Thanks it's the first time I've had a server with a 10gbit port lol

Speedtest is not accurrate, since many of servers added from some companies there just to advertise their company don't even have 1Gbps and or shared. I would recommend to try iperf test or this script, make sure you have curl, wget installed in your server:

Code:
curl -sL yabs.sh | bash -s -- -fg

See attached screenshot

Im not complaining it's like almost 9gbit

I managed to get speedtest to work properly now I had a old version installed I think.

For those that want to check their speeds using Ookla speedtest.net here is the link

speedtest.net/apps/cli

By the way other than just the web hosting what else do you think I could host which will best utilize the 10gbit port I have here?

Thanks

Assuming your 10G port is limited in how many TB? Otherwise maybe plex, torrenting streaming :)
