Since many web hosting providers which lots of packages, after searching I realized that most of the recommendations are for large companies,
but obviously, there are many smaller web providers in this field that have a good service and good performance as well (or even better).

I saw this sentence somewhere: "the large company the less customer service".

Not only less customer service, but less quality aswell. Since big hosting companies fills their servers as much as possible even oversold nodes where they limit almost everything, from memory, i/o write read, number of processes etc. While small companies trying to attract their customers with performance because of low number of customers will deffo be better than big companies in terms of performance.

This really does not have to be the case, I sincerely believe that it is possible for a company to scale up and grow without getting worse at taking care of clients. Obviously it is a lot easier for support staff to have a personal relationship with 10 customers than it is with 10,000 customers, but it is possible.

Sadly it seems that a lot of big companies, in hosting and just about everything else do start to let this slip as they get bigger, but let's be honest there are some smaller companies with pretty crap customer service as well.

Agree, but this small precentage is 10% from small companies, and 90% of them are from big companies, once a company reached enought customers, you are not a customer anymore with them but only e number.

They separate themselves with a 99.9% uptime which is quite impressive.
I don't actually see this as particularly impressive, but as something that should be a standard.

If your hosting company does not offer uptime of 98% or upwards then there is something wrong, it's also important that it is backed up with something in a Service Level Agreement, so that as well as just promising a certain level of uptime, customers are compensated in some way if the monthly uptime goes below that level.

We give a 99.98% uptime gaurantee in our SLA, we'd love for that to be 100% but it's just not practically possible for nothing to ever need to be restarted, etc.

After doing some research, find out some providers from Taiwan since I'm gonna expand my site in their market, have you hear about yuan-jhen information (or something like yuanjhen hosting host.com.tw?), if you are using or had experience with their service please feel free to share with me, so I can have more options before deciding to stick my site with them.

I couldn't agree with you more “the large company the less customer service ”. The small provider will try their best to serve every customer and provide more benefits for their clients.

I agree with you up to a point, but the fact is that companies grow. It's a huge challenge to keep the same focus on customer service as there become more and more of them, but it is not impossible. Companies just need to employ more support staff and maintain real relationships with clients.

Our company is growing but we think that customer relationships are hugely important, so we assign an 'account manager' to each new client, who will normally be the same main contact person all the time and who will answer their support requests, etc. Of course it doesn't always work out like that, support questions need to be answered as they come in, and if the account manager isn't available then someone else will pick it up. The other key thing is to make accurate notes on all communication and issues so that whoever does pick up the support request knows enough about the client account to be able to be as useful as possible to the client.

My point is that there is no reason that companies of any size can't put strategies in place to actually have relationships with clients and deliver great service, and some of them really could and should do better.

Yes, I also agree with what you said. There are different solutions for big or small companies to maintain the relationship between customers and staff. Small companies will have a quicker response time while big companies may solve the problem better.

The hosting companies you choose should really have the following features.

1- DDoS Protection (100% prevention of layer 3, layer 4 and layer 7 DDoS attacks must be guaranteed.)
2- It should have a weekly or daily backup feature at most.

The above features may be your most important reasons for preference. I recommend that you really pay attention to whether these features exist.

I'm all for data privacy and freedom of speech, and there are cases where that might be useful, but the vast majority of people with any kind of legitimate business or personal sites have no need for that kind of anonymity at all.

Features for most hosting providers are similar. There are small differences and you should make a list of what your requirements are so you can better choose.

As for the argument that big companies provide worse service this is subjective and based on personal experience and expectations. However, many large companies do have great customer service because they do not lose focus on what made them great when they were small. The difference tends to be the people behind them.

Take for example EIG group who owns some of the big boys like Hostgator, Bluehost and others. They are considered the evil empire in hosting circles because when they take over a host they tend to decimate their service from servers to support. Their goal is to squeeze a lot of profits out of each server which causes service issues when done wrong. However, you still see a lot of good reviews from their brands that outweigh the negatives. So this goes back to what each of us consider acceptable service and support.

Just make a list of your needs and expectations and then maybe consider some support tests to see how each candidate company you are looking at performs. Do they give canned responses to every question you ask or do they actually give intelligent honest answers that are talking to you as the individual and not a general overall audience. Some support systems are based out of your home country and that is ok if they can provide amazing customer support for you, but if they can't meet your needs then you should consider someone else.
