I don't know why cPanel's pricing is increasing recent months, it likes I am paying for a server, not a hosting control panel license. Any ideas?

cPanel got bought out by Oakley Capital (who also own Plesk and SolusVM).
I'm guessing Oakley Capital paid a substantial amount of money for cPanel - thus Oakley wants to regain its investment - and the only way of doing that is raising prices.
They did this with Plesk as well.

So that's why.

I've been using cPanel for over 13 years and know they can't just keep increasing pricing by over 50% for existing customers, then we will probably be forced to look elsewhere.

It wouldn't be so bad if cPanel provided a discount to existing customers who've helped improved cPanel over the years, like 10% recurring discount for every 5 years that the customer/partner has been with cPanel. I hope cPanel/VC know what they're doing long-term.

We need some reassurance that in 5 years time we will still be able to afford cPanel. Its difficult to invest time in testing new features without knowing if the price will double next year making cPanel not viable any more for the shared hosting market.

Future don’t look good here. When a company is sold from investor to investor and every new investor increases the costs to undertake and sell for an enormous profit, it’s the purchasers who end up paying the price, I hope cPanel / VC know what they are doing long-term.

Well, this is very easy: The previous price increase didn't make cPanel lose customers, so they simply went for more, this is a trial and error thing. Once they have a massive goodbye from the industry they'll reconsider and probably stop pushing the finger inner.

They are only going to keep raising their prices, they couldn't care less about their customers. It's all about their profit margin. I would suggest switching to DirectAdmin or if you really like cPanel then use the free alternative CentOSWebPanel as it mimics cPanels layout and features. Their support is awful but the product is decent.

I think that sooner or later market will regulate that.
Also I believe other alternative panel will appear.
That is very competitive area.

Because of paying per cPanel account, shared and, especially reseller hosting account prices will be higher. Providers who sold many cheap shared/reseller hosting accounts for year/3 years in advance, will end up having cPanel costs be higher than what they charge(d) for the hosting.

My web hosting provider increase my server price because it is included cpanel price in it, they told that but no reason. I think that everyone should move from cpanel to other hosting control panels (plesk, directadmin...) with lower price and they are still good even better than cpanel. Just give them a try.
