A few years ago, I need about 250 to $300 / month for a dedicated server but now its price around $80 to $150. Does web hosting cost reduce over time? or am I wrong?

It does and it does not, since there are alot of competitors that make prices cheaper. Also there are cheaper hardware price which it might make cheaper aswell.

Web hosting cost may vary from company to company.

For any new web-users, establishing their sites online with their new hosting provider is very exciting yet challenging experience. Often most web-masters try to look out for web hosting plans which offer a lot of resources with multiple different services. Some of the features which have been included in the hosting package are not necessary at all. Little do the web-masters being aware that having those features which they won't be using at all is a waste itself because for the value, they would have asked for additional bandwidth instead of the special features which they unlikely required at all.

Below are some of the key essential tips in how to reduce the cost for your web hosting wisely

1. Know your budget well

2. Compressed and Format your images for maximum speed and space

3. Optimize load times

Before you select any provider try collecting the details of the shortlisted ones. You need to take some time in reading reviews about them and see the packages offered by them in terms of bandwidth and space available.

It's a matter of perspective and Goal. The way you are looking, the simple answer is Yes. Obviously, you have to pay less after these years. But have you upgraded your services as well or still providing the same as you were a few years back. Look at the cPanel for instance, I know people who are moving to CWP, Webmin, etc just because cPanel is rising the license cost almost every year now or maybe twice a year. For some, it doesn't really matter and some don't know how to manage with that.
In my opinion Yes, Hardware is getting cheaper and most of the hosts can use this as an opportunity to catch up in terms of getting more business. But there is so much new in the market that many have to figure out yet and that is not cheap.

Exactly on this point, I really don't understand why cpanel increase their pricing like that, it like I am buying a server, instead of a hosting control panel license.

That's a fantastic question, and the simple answer is: They need more money, and don't care about the customers. They can increase the price because there are still 80% of hosting industry which it still uses cpanel, and looking for alternative including us. Once whm cpanel sees that most of the customers are moving out from whm cpanel, i am pretty sure they will lower the price again. As for me/us, in near future even if whm cpanel license will be free, we will never ever use them anymore! You know, once moron, always moron!

Just because they kinda own the market. And I would disagree with those who think that they will lower the prices ever in the future. They will only go higher because they are evolving every day and if you use other control panels, then you will realize there is none like cPanel we have to admit that, and that confidence made them sure that people will pay them for it no matter whats the price. Obviously, they have to be sensible in their pricing especially when the volume is high. Because those are the real customers for them. And they are kinda shifting the low volume customers to their resellers. Imagine if someone pays you $100 and the other pays you $10 but the same quality of support will be provided to both of them. Another reason for increasing the price is to make sure there is a less (un-necessary) load on their Support Center. Nowadays, everyone owns a hosting company even the Designers, SEO guys, developers, I even know some doctors and engineers who own a hosting company. I hope you get the idea.

No i don't, since you stated someone pays $100 and other pays $10 with the same quality, which is not true! The one who pays 100 buck will get alot more resource and features, while other one who pays 10 buck will get low quality, like limiting IO, RAM,IP, and many more. It is not always to cpanel but to server aswell. And not everyone starts with 100 bucks, most of them starts from 10 and grows up. There are alot of other cpanels who do a great job just like whm cpanel. Directadmin, interworx CWP etc. Everyone has the right to do what they like and love to do, what makes you thinking that you have the right to run a hosting company and others like doctors developers etc not? Oh and btw, let see once most of cpanel users move out from whm cpanel to other panels. Whm cpanel acquired by Oakley Capital everyone knows them, so Oakley Capital seized the opportunity to raise the price by 800% because they know that most of hosting companies will take alot of time to move their users to other panels. So it makes me thinking, the same did most hated person in the world Martin Shkreli with pharma medicaments. And at the end, everyone should get the respect and support, it's called "customer" it doens't matter if is small or big, you never know which one will fall and which will grow up. BTW, we moved our 6 whm cpanel to CWP, and we are really happy with it. Alot of features nginx included and many more.

I was talking about the support services not the server specs. Nobody is comparing the specs it's pretty obvious. It doesn't matter if you have cheap or expensive VPS, cPanel comes with everything and provides the same support.

There are alot of other cpanels who do a great job just like whm cpanel. Directadmin, interworx CWP etc.
May be but not like cPanel. There is a reason if they hold the major share in the market. They are better than all those panels. Do those panels do the job? Yes, but they don't have everything that cPanel has. Also, you probably haven't used everything in cPanel/WHM and I understand most of the small hosts don't because they just want to host their customer's sites and do little tweaks and that is it. Like, Clustering, they never have a desire to use or understand such features.

Everyone has the right to do what they like and love to do, what makes you thinking that you have the right to run a hosting company and others like doctors developers etc not?
I would like to request that do not make it personal. I just explained the fact that its becoming a huge market and everyone is starting a hosting business and these kind of things happen what cPanel is doing.

Every business works like that. They are not running a Non-Profit Organization. They are doing business and they will cash every opportunity like everybody. You think you moved to CWP and when they will have too much hold in the market they will keep their License to FREE or $1.5 USD? Nobody cares about their customers. And like you said anyone can do what they like.

And at the end, everyone should get the respect and support, it's called "customer"
I agree everyone should get the same respect. and support. They didn't say they won't provide those. They just raised the prices to filter.

it doens't matter if is small or big, you never know which one will fall and which will grow up.
Exactly!! If you were paying for cPanel and now moved to the FREE ones or cheaper ones that means cPanel was better than others. Otherwise, you would've started with those in the first place. So, what matters is you believe in your business and the way you are running it. Then it doesn't matter what you are using you will grow. and the primary focus is to increase sales and revenue

BTW, we moved our 6 whm cpanel to CWP, and we are really happy with it. Alot of features nginx included and many more.
I am happy for you buddy. :)

Yeah, just google a see how many threads/posts are made for whm cpanel alternative. There is no doubt that whm cpanel was one of the first hosting panel around here with feature rich, the same is the fact that there is no doubt that most other alternatives are working hard to get more customers, and they are getting them i am pretty sure about this. But it's a moral of a human being not to ripp people/customers just because your'e the first one without competitors, because there are and will be alot of competitors soon. With their price hike, they will push more competitors around aswell.

The cost for shared hosting is already cheap now. I think the price will not fall much. But most likely, in a few years, shared hosting will disappear as there will be less demand. People will increasingly use ready-made services, and for those who want to manage their site personally, they will buy a dedicated server.

The costs of doing business are increasing. It is just that there are new technologies and the older generation servers and hardware now cost less. Those companies who still use them, are able to offer cheaper services. However, the costs of the IT hosting are going up and this is visible when you look at the prices of the major Clouds.
