I am running several websites, they are running on Wordpress and all of them are using paid themes. I think free themes are also good but paid themes have lots of customization, but if you have good knowledge about web programming and you can customize free themes? or just buying paid themes? What is your opinion about this ?

Honestly, I think some of the free themes are as great as paid ones. However, they are usually simpler and have fewer features. Some of the free themes have text's encoded into them, so everyone could see what theme is used in the website. Free themes can have customizations also, but usually, you need to pay for them (additional plugins).

Having programming skills, any theme can be edited, just need the knowledge for that.

If you good at programming then its best way to develop is choose a free themes and then customize it according to you need. But most of don't know the coding part. So paid theme are also good.

I have never used a free theme for my business websites, if you are offering products/services to your customers, you need to use a professional theme, it will provide you better features that free themes did not.

You could use Elementor or Divi etc. and create as many as you wish. Some of them come with templates you can use to start off with too.

For business, I always use paid themes, but I also use Elementor Pro so I can customize them.

Just like what most people said. Both free and paid are good, but free are often limited features and customization. For the most part if I get either paid or free I normally heavily modify it to meet my exact idea of what I want.

But to answer your question, I prefer paid.

I recently just installed a free theme on my site. And I'll be honest I'm in love with it, so it really depends on what you like and what sort of features you want.

Hi well for me i have learned free themes never really do exactly what you want even premium themes do not rally give you what you need the only way to get everything how you want it is to design a custom theme
if you have the skills you can use https://underscores.me as a bare bones template or you can hire a design firm.

Before I had the ability to build my own theme from the ground up I used to download clean and lightweight Wordpress themes that gave me a good foundation to work with and design/customise to my needs.

A free Wordpress Bootstrap theme springs to mind where I could easily add my own elements and adjust the colors accordingly.

Now this does depend on a few things, I used to run a job board website and I found a fantastic premium theme which was designed around this and it was ready out of the box. This saved me the headache of designing another theme and fitting the plugin around it. So in this case, paying for a theme was warranted.

In general though, you can find plenty of free themes available to you which would suit your needs you just have to take the time to look not only on the Wordpress dashboard but other dedicated websites too.

Nothing wrong with free themes if they suit your needs. If you need/want the features of the paid version then pay for it. Otherwise, why bother?

I will not say free themes are not good but I don't like using free themes because it lacks of functions, features and support from developers.

I am using free theme, because I have limited budget for running a wesite. In future, I may invest more money on website and install the paid theme.

For my future website I did a selfmade theme, used photoshop for it. My skills aren't that great, but at least it's what I want.

After all, having a good design for your website is your first priority. You must enjoy it yourself. :)

If you are still starting doing website designing. You can start with the free themes. But if you are good in designing using softwares. Why not make your own design as it is cheaper and it is more personalized.

Free themes are awesome! Especially for someone who is just starting out. If you are at the starting line of your website I would definitely recommend starting out with a free theme. This will allow you to tweak everything else and get everything up and running without putting as much thought into the little details of your site. I believe the content of your site will always come first before design. However, when you become more comfortable with curating your website then I would say you should really look into making a theme on your own. The personalization you could come up with would be endless and it would really bring your website full circle in making it look exactly in the way you have envisioned. Also, to answer your question, I create my own themes from the ground up. If you run more than one website this may be difficult and time consuming but honestly I enjoy it!
