Photoshop is obviously just not used for photo manipulation or correction, but also for the creation of typical web elements: buttons, UI elements (bar backgrounds, custom bullet points), borders, etc. It takes skill to make them look professional, and learning the processes that you have to go through to realize one can be a demanding task for a beginner.
