Best add-on for comments?

Most websites don't have a forum to freely talk in and discuss topics broached by the posts or articles, so comments are the only way to share one's opinion and interact and come to know other visitors. This is good for traffic, image and overall navigation enjoyment, there's really no reason not to consider adding a comment plugin in a webpage.

What add-ons, plugins or simple frameworks work best for comments? I'm not just referring to WP, but also to custom-built websites.

On WordPress, WPdiscuz is pretty good. Then on a blogging platform like Ghost, you can use Isso which is a solution similar to Disqus, but without all ads and tracking.

Looking at wpDiscuz, I feel like I've already seen it used around the web before, but I've found out what plugin that is just now. I really like how modern it looks.
And man, Isso is lovely. It looks like a lightweight version of Disqus with an even sleeker design (and it's open-source!). I'm definitely bookmarking this, but, speaking of which, is there anything wrong with Disqus itself? I've seen it work right out of the box quite a few times, but despite the above average loading times it seemed to be doing a fine job.

Disqus is not bad, but it require to register to post a comment, and it may dispay ads and other tracking code on your page, which make your website slower.

Yeah, you have a point. I've definitely noticed some slowdowns on webpages with Disqus on it, and the comments themselves didn't load as fast as with other platforms, which is a pity.
In my opinion, registering is only as bad as how limited the platform is. Disqus is pretty widespread, so you'll only have to go through the hassle of creating an account just once (and then you can use it on multiple websites, too), but I do get why you would say that.
