Choosing a Web hosting company that will fulfil all your needs is difficult to find, especially when you have lack knowledge about web hosting services. After consulting so many hosting companies, people find it tough to pick the perfect web host.

Web hosting is common now a days, everyone want to get their business online hence searching for appropriate web host. We have lot of web hosting companies in competition offering web hosting plans.

Users who do not have prior experience of web hosting finds it confusing to choose the hosting company. So, there are few features you should look at while choosing a appropriate web hosting provider.

Fast Servers : The servers should be fast and reliable. To take your business to higher level the servers should be efficient with better up time.

Bandwidth: One of the important factor to be considered You should check for the hosting provider giving you the required bandwidth.

Price: The main factor every customer will look for is the price offered by the company. Of course it is not the money, the customer should also look for the features they offer for that package.

Control Panel: The control panel should be easy to use. Go for the hosting provider which gives you user-friendly control panel.

Backup Facilities : It is necessary to find the hosting provider who provides you the backup in case of data get lost. The customers should get the weekly backup.

Security: It is the utmost feature, the web hosting provider should provide. The website should be secured, free from viruses or other technical failures.

Up time: The best web hosting provider should have 100% up-time, load time and customer support so that customer doesn't get stuck with their query.

Customer Support: The customer should look for a web hosting company which has 24*7 technical support to solve their queries. Support should quick and efficient.

We'd like to add more info and guidelines:

  • Only go with SSD hosting. SSD servers are much faster compared to HDD hosting.
  • Avoid overly cheap "unlimited bandwidth" hosting plans.
  • Check the reviews. You can always tell how good a hosting provider is by checking the customer reviews they get.
  • In most cases, Linux hosting is a better match than Windows hosting. You don't need Windows hosting for a simple PHP app like WordPress.
  • Shared hosting is fine for smaller sites that don't get much traffic, but VPS hosting is always preferred, better and faster compared to Shared hosting.

I think customer support and testimonials are the 2 most important things that should be taken into consideration :)

How to test customer support : Mail their email, if they don't reply, that's a red flag.

Google out testimonials : They are there and indexed everywhere.

As a webhost myself I extensively google reviews before purchasing a new server

I totally agree with casualhost. First check on-line to see the effectiveness of their customer support platform and testimonials of previous users. I once worked with an organization that ran into the hands of a very incompetent hosting provider. We'd send messages multiple times before we'll get response that does not address the problem we were facing with the site we hosted with them.We got frustrated and eventually abandoned using that website after spending our hard earned money. Please always check the two highlighted points above.

Apart from customer service which is very essential , the bandwidth should also be checked.
I really would not advise that people rely on reviews as they are most times faked

Really helpful points!:) I will add some more here.

1. Quality support - Proper resolution for your issue. If you will get the quality answers for your queries then it's really best to stuck with such hosting provider.

2. Good hardware and software - Your hosting provider should have proper hardware setup and necessary software setup.

3. Cost for service - It's not necessary that you should have low budget hosting service but you should get the high quality service in the paid amount.

4. Quality time - The support team of your hosting provider should provide the resolution of your query within the time. Reply time depends on the type of query you submitted.

5. 24x7 service - Support team should be available 24x7 for you.

6. Server security and maintenance, uptime - - Servers on which you're going to host your service should be hardened and protected from various types of attacks. There should be firewall setup. There should be periodic maintenance and patching for your server, applications on it.

Server uptime should be minimum.

7. Easy to manage - The provider should provide the interface of panel which is easy to understand and access. GUI of the panel should be user friendly.

These are some very helpful points for those who are going to purchase web hosting service. When I bought a web hosting service I didn't have much knowledge on how to choose the best and simply relied on my friend's testimonials. I was informed to look for the bandwidth, security, and cost. It should be worthy of the money spent and also there should be a good customer care service which is friendly and supportive.

This is definitely very useful! I used Godaddy in the past but the customer support was kind of weak, so I kept digging about other websites who were cheaper and had a 24x7 service. One of the most important things here is being able to communicate to someone as fast as possible when your website is down, or you need to update it/push something to the server. Everyone should give notice to all the points posted here.

Cheers!
