I check dedicated offers and almost plans are offering this feature, I like this option but I don't know how to use it and where to find my backups? is there a location specify if I enable backup feature? and What do daily backups include? databases and all my files? or including all files on my hosting, including hosting control panel and configurations?

Hi David,

Are you talking about dedicated server full system backups ? If you are talking about the WHM backup tool on a dedicated then these options can be configured from just web sites files to everything else.

Web hosting, a world with its own terminology. It could be that they take daily snapshots of your dedicated and store them on a remote location, or they could offer FTP backup storage. You forgot to mention is the service managed or unmanaged?

Most of the times when a provider states that they take daily/nightly backups is for their own safety and you should keep your own backups safely stored. The best way is to ask them if they can restore your service to an earlier date if they can't provide such a service its mostly backups for their own safety.

This totally depends on your server provider some host give full server backups like is giving and some provide application level backups which means you can take a backup of single application.

No I am talking about the features daily backups which providers are offering on their plans. They are backups from their system or my hosting control panel?
If it is from my hosting control panel such cPanel or Plesk then that is a feature of my hosting provider?

Does it have differences between managed or unmanaged service?
If backups are snapshots of my storage then how to download/restore them? where did they generate from?

This totally depends on your server provider some host give full server backups like Cloudways is giving and some provide application level backups which means you can take a backup of single application.
Yeah I think each provider offers different type of backup tool, just want to confirm what are common daily backups that they are offering.

Offers may depends upon the hosting provider, We see many web hosting companies provides backup offer which may include only your cpanel account(website contents, mysql databases, mails and other files in your home directory /home/user/). see Dedicated server providers offering FTP backup space, that should be blank space, you may need to configure backups to the FTP space. in case of vps, some companies provides the backups like snapshots(all virtual machine)

Its better to check with the hosting company where you see the backup offer.

You are right on this, creating backups need to do by myself or I can ask my hosting provider do that? and providing me a link to download after the backup is finished?
