If you don't know what 9GAG is, well you can either consider yourself lucky or very out of loop with current trends in online humor.

The site itself has a very Reddit-esk community in that it is largely filled with sarcasm and witty come backs. On to the point of the thread...

Have you ever considered using 9GAG to advertise your site on? Consider you have a gif or meme that goes viral. It is seen by THOUSANDS of people in a matter of minutes. What if that gif or meme you uploaded had a link back to your site? Now I know this isn't as easy as clicking something, you actually have to type it in but I think this is something that can/could work for the right niche.

I knew that site years ago, it is a site for fun as funny pics, gifs, videos, gaming, anime, manga, movie, memes, etc..on the internet, but if you are going to promoting a hosting service there then it is total wrong or you are targeting wrong audience and it is just a waste of money and time. In the other words, their pricing is sure high because they have high traffic and rates is a thing that you can not afford it.

IMO no. It's a place to hang out and most people on there are not looking to buy web hosting. Although if you have shopping sites or sell things which hipsters like , it might be perfect :p

If you study the site properly, you will notice that most of the users on that site are freebie seekers, who are not willing to shell out money, and also they have nothing to do with the hosting industry.

Yes I am aware. I didn't mean for just hosting offers. It was just something I was thinking over as it is a very active site.

Anyways, the thought has come and passed. Thanks for your feedback guys!

I agree with the hipster part. If you have enough of a sense of humor to make some viral gifs/memes/pics, then it could be a good source of traffic for your "trendy, cool, whatever" website.

At first I thought you were refering to something like ads and banners put on 9gag along the posts and all, which could work if your band is attractive to a young audience.

Now unless you're looking for clicks only, I'm not sure it would be profitable since it's a small specific type of viewers, and they could also get annoyed by the advertisements really fast.

Cheers!

9GAG is known to be catering something funny, weird or just plain odd memes or short videos. If your business caters the younger genre it might work for you.
