Are name servers case sensitive?

Hi everyone,

Are the nameservers of a domain case sensitive? I ask this because when i submitted my nameserver in Godaddy it changed to uppercase
I mean if the nameserver is ns1.example.com then I can set it as lower case, case sensitive or uppercase in other domain registrars? what case is the most exactest?

As LJSHost say, they are not case sensitive.
Maybe some providers have setup to show NS as uppercase that is just visual beatification.

Nameservers, email addresses, web addresses(URL's are all case-insensetive.

In most cases name servers are written in capital letters for clarity and to avoid confusion between some letters .

As mentioned, Name servers are not case sensitive

Name servers are the same as domains doesn't matter if there caps or not.
This just adds the added benefit to your customer to make sure that they are using the correct spelling and makes them stand out in the signup/confirmation email of there order.

First, no nameservers are not case sensitive but I guess that you got that from the other answers above. Second, that is a default action that the Godaddy user/control panel always does no matter what.

Godaddy likes things big, even the letters they use! LOL

They never are case sensitive.

They are not case sensitive, most providers will capitalize them because a

lowercase "L" and a upper case "i" look the same. They don't want the consumer to get confused if they are typing in name servers manually.
