Do you use a third party dns service? or do you just use builtin dns on your control panel like WHM/cPanel, or do you do dns clustering? Ideas or thoughts on best providers of this service or spin your own system?

many providers already included third party options like cloudflare
as long as the provider offers ddos protection there is no need for third party dns

I like using CloudFlare. Otherwise own DNS cluster using different providers. Not much more to add to that.

I have always just used cPanel but after seeing a post on the forum here the other day I am thinking about trying out CloudFlare.

You could create a DNS cluster using the cPanel DNSonly version which is free and have your servers in different locations, just make sure the DC has DDoS protection available if needed.

We have DNS clustering setup, its always best to avoid downtime. You can also set it up in your environment.

You can setup clustering using Cluster option in WHM, but to achieve it, you need multiple DNS servers.

I love using CloudFlare for my personal and community domains, but I don't trust them for business use. After reading their T.O.S, it is clear that they retain substantial data about one's website and it's visitors. Not only that, but they make it clear that "Cloudflare may modify the content of your site" ~ https://www.cloudflare.com/terms/

Personal websites CloudFlare is a real life safer. However for our company websites we prefer to use DNSMadeEasy.

I always prefer CloudFlare because it is easy and quickest among others, the main thing is its free and easy to manage everything and you can even use it for multiple domains. Cloudflare also provide cpanel plugins and partnership programme for hosting providers which is really cool to have in cpanel as a hosting provider.
