I disagree with the two above posts.
In most of my posts I always encourage people to never give up. If this is something you are actually interested in doing, make a small investment and start it. You are already making the FIRST step by asking questions and finding answers to your solutions. So you are doing great so far. Keep it up!! Yes, many services are out right now that offer email solutions but that should never, ever, ever discourage you from starting...because it's not impossible to become "famous" - you could have an idea or offer a solution that nobody has ever offered before.
You could check out some open source scripts for email solutions like

https://www.zimbra.com/open-source-email-overview/ .. I mean endless open-source applications out. Just find the best solution that fits your needs. Then offer something unique that hasn't been offered before.
