As I suppose that web traffic is the main reason for us to go for Dedicated servers, right?
Other than that, if you don't have huge traffic on your sites or you don't own an ecommerce, forums, banking site and there is a huge transaction and traffic is there then you don't need dedicated servers.
What are your thoughts?
Who needs a dedicated server? Any developer, website, gamer, or nerd could need a dedicated server. Huge traffic is one reason someone would need a dedicated server.
- High Traffic as noted above (i.e. website, ecommerce, blog, radio, &c.)
- Complete root access for customization and speed (i.e. sysadmin, hostmaster, nerds, &c. : )
- Priority Control of Security or sensitive information (HIPPA, privacy advocates, webhost, &c.)
- Managing high capacity multimedia transfer and storage (BaaS, film agencies, video apps, &c.)
- Database Control and Specification (database servers, i/o, &c.)
tl;dr:
If I want root access, high capacity uplink, large bandwidth, greatest storage capacity/value, ultimate security potential then I may need a dedicated server located in a quality datacenter. The 'who' could be corporations, voip providers, vps providers, and many many more.
