What is the best data center in Germany?

What would be the best data center in Germany? I was recommended some hosting companies in Germany with cheap prices as hetzner.de, serverloft.eu or softlayer.com but I have not ever used these companies before. Which ones have good specifications, speed and 99.99% uptime. Please give some recommendations.

In my personal opinion, today you can choose whatever server location you want, let a CDN to solve the rest hence you don't need to find exact location where you want to target your site to.

I have used hetzner.de and i have to give them a thumbs up for the price vs value.
Alternatively as @Mihai B. said you can use a CDN which should increase the range of options for you. Or look for EU hosting companies as they are so close that the difference is very little.

You can find all the best telecom facility and data center operators in Germany. Equinix is top and it is a good idea to find a web host that has its IT infrastructure collocated in Equinix. One thing which is important is that Equinix runs its own Internet exchanges and offers very good options for interconnectivity.

As far as for Hetzner (and it this not about to disagree with @LuxinHost or to question one's experience with them), I'd say that it looks a heavily subsidized company that underbids the market. Within he last 2 years we have seen a lot of spam coming from this company and few more who have similar service models. i have a long list with span reports in Spamcop for those.

Definitely Frankfurt in the DE-CIX (Deutscher Commercial Internet Exchange) it is the worlds largest internet exchange point. As for a specific company, I would go with equinix. I myself have never encountered even a slight hiccup. They run the worlds largest and most secure datacenters(Allthought that is pretty common these days). Important thing is the DE-CIX location allowing providers to connect to most of the worlds largest networks...

@10Gbpsio To be able to interconnect is very important, I agree on this. There are also other important things like, remote hands, onsite storage rooms, as well as internal marketplace (something that Equinix has).

I recommend velia.net In my opnion good cost x benefit.

+1 for Hetzner. They are quick to deploy servers, and only charge you after using them for a bit. They are also very friendly to me in support tickets, and I have had no issues so far. My IP I received was clean and not black listed ( like the one i got from Joes Datacenter )
