VPS for eCommerce website

Can we use an eCommerce script with a basic VPS ? I am not sure how heavy the website is going to be when we add all products. The product images itself would give a good load on the server. A dedicated server would be too much for someone in the beginning stages. What are the options available in that case ?

Of course. With a VPS, you can install virtually anything you want on it. Simply find the eCommerce script you want to use and insure your VPS has the needed resources to run it properly.

I was more worried about the speciation of the VPS. What would be the specification to start with ? Do we have to over invest in a high end VPS ?

In beginning of ecommerce website, you can go with vps/cloud and once you receive good traffic, you can upgrade to dedicated server.

Depending on what eCommerce you want to use, and how many products you will add on it.

But only Magento require a lot of memory but you will have to use it only for 30 000+ products
For prestashop, woocommerce and opencart, 1vCore, 2GB RAM and a SSD will be fine.

@meetdilip Depending on the commerce application you'd use you might need 4GB - 8GB Ram on the VPS. I guess you'd start with 4GB.
