How to Display a Message Reminder in Gmail?

I have some events in next week/month and I want them to be reminded via Gmail before 3 or 5 days before each event. I would like to have email Reminders about events by emails to my Gmail inbox. Do you guys know how to setup this?

If you're events are in your Google Calendar, this is
very simple do do. When entering the "edit event"
page, you will see the following:

gcal_reminder.png

You can then chose whether to receive a reminder(s)
via email or text and you can choose different intervals.

Does that help you? Or did I misunderstand the question?
