Do you guys think it is worth purchasing paid blog themes? or just finding free themes to start a blog and change to paid themes when you can earn revenue from it
I wonder what your opinions are about them.

Obviously the big advantages of a paid theme, from a reliable seller, are updates and support. Support being the biggest. Not saying you can't get support with free theme's, but it's often hit and miss. Usually your on your own. Same thing for free v.s. paid plugins.

But on the other side, you can buy a theme that looks like it's going to work for you, only to find out it has some issues.

My last big conversion for a site from an old shopping cart to wordpress, I went through a ton of paid theme's (tried them before i bought), only to ditch one after another. Usually just little things, but enough to make it a deal breaker. So in that instance, I could have wasted alot of cash. In the end a free theme that was the best for my situation.

Sorry, that is not a very good answer. Best I can say from my experience. :)

Really depends, some are and some are not.
Before you buy one have a look around, there is many free them which are much better than the paid version.

I have used a lot of themes over the years, a lot, and I have seen great free themes and poos paid themes and vise versa. How good a theme is depends on the developer, whether it's free or paid.

Usually the main differences between the free and paid themes are that the paid themes usually have more built-in features and require less plugins or code changes/modifications to achieve the desired results.

Most free themes can have the same functions as paid if you just look for plugins or do some code work.

Other than that the big plus to buying a theme is for the support (if offered).

I have used quite a few paid themes, and then ended up regretting it when the developer refused to help with problems I was having. This also happened to a few friends of mine too. If I make a new website I just make my own now and port it over to WordPress. Sure, it may not have all the functionality a paid theme has such as a content builder but I add what I need onto the theme.

There are some nice free themes out there. But even the pay ones aren't too expensive. I think its best to find the one you like and if it costs money go ahead an purchase it. Think of it this way: If you get a free one just to get by, and then buy one later you will need to rebuild your site sooner than if you bought the one you really liked right away and keep that for long time.

That's something that not a lot of people take into consideration. If you are just using something temporary then have to do a lot of reworking later it might just be more of a pain to wait rather than just to get what you really need now. ;)

I think that paid themes are a good idea if you can't find a free theme that does what you want it to do or if you want/need support from the theme developer.

or just finding free themes to start a blog and change to paid themes when you can earn revenue from it
You can do that and sometimes is a good choice. You just have to consider that sometimes changing themes later after your site gets going can cause some issues that you would need to take care of.

If you have little to no knowledge about web designing or coding, paid themes are definitely worth it. You'll have an easier time customizing the theme because of the many available options/features. Besides that, most paid themes are responsive and SEO-optimized. There are theme creators that offer a free version of their paid themes. I was searching a week ago about free Wordpress themes with built-in ads slots or widgets in them and I found several themes with both free and pro versions. The free versions are not hacked, they just lack the full customization features of the pro version. There's an option to upgrade to the pro version if you feel that you need the extra features. It's a good way to test if a theme is a great fit for your website.

I would say yes, but do a bit of research before you purchase the theme to find out whether it has features like an included page builder, good support and frequent updates. And also as others have mentioned, if you're purchasing a theme, start with the paid theme from the beginning. Otherwise it might end up being more costly for you and changes to the layout of the website can also have a negative effect on SEO.
