I want to start an online store selling digital products. I registered Amazon and Clickbank account and ready to offer the products, but I would like to have actual products that I own and sell on my own store and advertise them on other sites.
Any suggestions to sell digital products, build and sell my own products and build my own online store? What things do I need to prepare?

Do you already have digital products that you can sell? If not, create something that you're passionate about. Just don't spend a ton of time developing a store without first determining/researching the consumer demand for your product.

Like any other business, the sale of goods through an online store, despite the apparent ease and low cost also requires careful study, analysis of the consumer market, assess investment research business competitors. In here I will try to complete a full cycle of actions that will lead me away from the idea of "an online store" prior to the first sale of the real site.

  1. What we sell?
  2. Competition
  3. Internal policy
  4. How much is a site for people
  5. The advertisement is engine of the business
  6. Carefully find out qualified person to work under you
  7. Expenditure
    • Purchase of goods from the supplier
    • Create an online store
    • Domain / Hosting
    • Staff (manager, consultant, site administrator, accountant)
    • Advertising resource
    • Consumables, communications (telephone, mobile, Internet)
  8. And a couple of tips
As a future business owner associated with operating an online store, you should be aware that the holding of this one thing, you assume the responsibility in front of your customers. To sell the soul and feel the impact, you have to love and understand that this product, which is being implemented in your online store. Treat with care and respect to every client that comes to you, do not skimp on advertising and let you do it!

Good luck!!!

Well I think that first you need to decide exactly what you are going to sell. If the digital items that you are wanting to sell are yours then they will need to be prepared and ready to be sold. If you are going to be getting your products from another source, then you will need to get the supply end figured out.

Figure out all the supply issues and preparations, then look into the best way to build your site to maximize the products. Different products sell better than others using different methods. A big part of knowing how to sell your products will be some research and finding out what works for others that offer the same or similar products.

Keep these two in mind while thinking of dipping your feet into the vast world of eCommerce:
Basics: Ensure that you know what you are selling, and have all the permits or licences to sell it.
Brand: Your eCommerce website should integrate your brand name into it. If it is going to use a different domain from your main website, it must be integrated well in terms of design and inventory.

You can tell that many people do not know how to start a real business.

Well, the first thing that any real business man looks for is....DRUM ROLL.................................... LOCATION!
Why? No matter what you stock, how great the quality, if it's yours or you affiliate market, how beautiful your site is....if you don't have traffic, you're OUT OF BUSINESS!

You need to know where your traffic is first - then you optimize for it. You guys are building up what in your imagination is what you THINK will draw people like honey draws files. How do I know this?

Because if you knew your target market, and how to get them to come to any site url, then you wouldn't be asking this question. Because this question, and the asking of it to total strangers, proves that you are ignoring (or is evidence that you don't have any idea of) the only true source of your answer - your target market!

So don't just build a store...build a TOWER in the middle of the desert (notargetedtraffic.html) because you believe that building, and stocking, and coloring, and widgetizing, and social button decorations will bring hoards of visitors.

On the otherhand, if you were to build a casino in the desert...then..maybe.

Somehow I do agree that you must considered the location first, of course you need to know where your target market is. So once you know which place to market your products then you can identify who your competitors are, and you can check how they market their product online. If you'll gonna create your website wherein you can sell and promote your product then you must need to think about the domain name, name of the website itself, a logo if possible, etc. Before you create an own online shop try to a market research, then look for the possible design of the website, search for the people who can help you(programmers), etc.

I think there might be some confusion. You said you want to have a store and sell digital products, but you mention Amazon and Clickbank. Kind of two different things.

Amazon and Clickbank are affiliate programs, your selling other peoples product, either physical or digital. You can set up a store that sells amazon products, looks like your own store and they pay at Amazon. Selling clickbank products, you would have a ad/sales copy that links to the product sales page and buyers go through Clickbank to buy.

But selling your own digital products, would be if you created or bought your own ebook and you sold it on your own store. Just slightly different.

The simplest way to have an online store is purchase a new domain, a new hosting plan, setup Wordpress and WooCommerce. Or maybe you should try Shoptify :). It's a good online shopping cart, which you don't need to know much about configuration. Just a few setup and sell :)

Hi mate you say you want to start and online estore selling eproducts, downloads, ebooks, software etc. And you want to sell your own instead of those on the Amazon and CB marketplace.

Well then in that case you will need your own product(s) to sell and that means you will have to come up with and invent/create something that you can sell as yours.

That could be an ebook, video course, software or download of some kind. Also digital products can cover SEO like links and link building, social signals likes, shares etc too.

Otherwise you will just have to sell other peoples stuff like the rest of us and start from scratch with a site and try and make it successful by filling a niche market, by meeting a demand for a product with your product. Whether it be yours or someone else's.

You need to think about creating a brand that offers that service perhaps but like always it depends on what you're passionate about and what your overall goals are.

So as to what things you need to prepare right now its not about preparing its about doing. That is what makes the difference and brings home the bacon so to speak.

Best of luck in your ventures.
