Does something like this work for SEO purposes, or would it just be a small traffic source?

I found this on Reddit.

Now obviously I have a tech blog so I might get some traffic from this. But I just wonder whether this would have any SEO benefits.

Im not sure i'll take the other guy up on his offer, but just wonder what your guys thought are.

I don't know for sure, but I'm tempted to say no. Why? The search engines like to see links built naturally. Plus, I'm pretty sure that when you have multiple backlinks from the same site, they only count once. In other words, it's one backlink per site.
