Rank for personal social network profiles?

I was wondering it is possible to rank your social media profiles such as Facebook page, google+, twitter, linkedin on the top of search engines results.

Is it different from ranking for a website or a blog? Have you tried it ?

Yes it's different from ranking a site and a lot harder to make it rank because of the on-page site aspects of the social profile. Another thing is that the search engine needs to be able to access not just the profile but the on-page stuff like posts, links, metadata etc.

Search engines can't create an account on facebook so it will be hard for the search engines to get enough data that will help your social profile rank. It also depends on the competition, there are very low competition keywords that you can rank for with a social profile and then there are high competitive ones that you'll never rank for with a social profile.

One other most important thing is that you don't have control over the social network, anything can be changed at any time without notice or choice.

But Yes it is possible to rank a social profile although it will depend on the keyword, competition and a whole lot of other factors.

I had this experience previously. My Facebook fan page for my website was ranking on the first page for a particular keyword. The website was nowhere around in the first 5 pages of Google, but the Facebook page was ranking in the first three results of Google. I was not sure how this happened but maybe my Facebook page promotion helped develop the ranking for the page.

I know about but never tried it.Most of the people are least bother of ranking their social media profiles as they will always busy with ranking their website for the selected keywords.I wonder how could we rank our social media profiles.

Do we need to do on-page for that on social networking profiles.If yes, how?
