How to add canonical tags in Wordpress through plugin and without plugin?

And tell me which is the best plugin for this purpose?

You can either use yoast or all in one seo plugin which are the best for wordpress.

All in One SEO Pack will add the canonical URL tag to a page if you have enabled Canonical URLs under All in One SEO, General Settings here

For wordpress site, just opening header.php in template folder and do steps as in thread above
