Do I need to optimize for a responsive site?

Hi guys, As everyone knew that online business is getting popular today and more users are using smartphones to search for any products. More websites updated latest technology to make their site into responsive site.
I updated my site template to responsive but it need to be optimized to SEO better?
Any suggestions?

Yes indeed you need to optimize your website... A responsive theme simply adapts/changes layout for PC and mobile devices etc... It does not implement on-page SEO... In fact no plugins or tools implements on-page SEO.. For that you need to use your own brain e.g. keyword research, keyword optimization on title, header tags, alt image attribute, canonicalization tag etc, etc...

Actually Google is going to start penalizing sites that are not mobile friendly starting in April, check this out:

So best to get your sites optimized now.

They never said they are going to penalize sites for not being mobile friendly. What they said was that being mobile friendly is going to be a ranking factor in the algorithm for mobile search. It will not effect searches performed on a desktop.

Nevertheless, if you rely on mobile traffic at all, you would be an idiot if you are not ensuring that your sites are mobile friendly.

It's really been a tough competition to be on the top, and we all know how essential is to build a responsive site and that should be good in all aspects. In simple words I can explain you "SEO is all about quality content" because in SEO whatever task is used to perform all need quality content then only it will be effective.
