Did you make your own Wordpress theme from scratch or use an existing theme?

If you have got experience on HTML/CSS/JS knowledge and you can make a Wordpress theme from scratch, but wait, as we knew having very more existing themes out there like on themeforest, templatemosnter..etc
If you have a choice, will you make your own Wordpress theme from scratch or use an existing theme?

I am senior web developer. I usually build WordPress themes as per the unique design. Buying premium design themes from websites is already been used by many website owners. So unique theme is better.

Advantages for having custom made WordPress themes are..

1. Design is made as per the client branding of websites.

2. We can add custom functionality into theme. Not using the plugins which are free but comes with bugs.

3. Site looks professional and loads faster because premium themes comes with 3 rd party plugins which loads outside scripts thats make site load slower.

4. We can make custom plugins for seo and analytics.

5. Site looks brand consistency and not as a ordinary premium WordPress theme.

I use Video Effects Press (Google it), as I mainly do squeeze pages. It's very customizable in its own right though.

It probably does a few things I don't even know it does. I really should look into it further, but I'm quite happy with what it does now, such as get me a 60% opt-in rate on solo ads...Woo-Hoo!
