Is PHP 7.4 Outdated for WordPress?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently using the new WordPress version and running on PHP 7.4. I'm wondering if PHP 7.4 is considered outdated now. Can anyone provide insights or recommendations on the latest PHP versions for WordPress websites? Your experiences and advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Php 7.4 is end of life (EOL) and is no longer maintaned/patched. It is really recommended that you upgrade to php8* for security reasons.

While PHP 7.4 is not outdated, it's always advisable to use the latest stable version supported by WordPress for security and performance reasons. As of now, WordPress recommends PHP 8.0 or higher. To update your PHP version, log in to your hosting control panel. Look for the PHP version manager (location varies based on your host) and select PHP 8.0. WordPress or any other platform; using outdated software increases security risks. With PHP 7.4 end of life, it no longer offers you more security updates for the version
