In terms of which would make you more money, I think that that would depend on how much work you're able to put into either - how efficient you are, what quality of content you're putting out there, and so on. If you're just starting out in freelancing, one of the most important things you can do is to create portfolios of your best programming, design, or writing work. This might mean creating a couple of clean projects to put onto github or similar places, and you might think about making a website for yourself that helps market you to people that want work done. After all, people won't be lining up to hire you if they don't know what kind of work they can expect you to do for them. Make a couple of good things, and put them out there! Good luck!
