I use shared hosting for my WordPress websites. Recently, my web host launched managed WordPress hosting. Currently, I pay $78 per year to host 10 websites. Wordpress managed hosting has been priced as $36 per year for one wordpress website.
Can you tell me the difference between shared hosting and WordPress hosting? What is managed wordpress hosting?

A good way to ask more money for the same service ?
Globally there is no difference between shared hosting and WordPress hosting. Your provider may include some features like WordPress one-click install but all of them are only related to the control panel used. So in my opinion, you should keep your shared hosting plan.

I have seen a few companies that have available 1GB ram & SSD disks in WP hosting plans and 512mb RAM & HDD drive for regular hosting.
Of course you can host Wp in the 512RAM per account but we all know sometimes WP prefer large memory.
But yes i agree with you, many companies WP hosting is just a way to ask more money for the same service.

WordPress hosting will have only WordPress installation. WordPress hosting provider used to manage, host and secure your WordPress from their end. Backing up the website and maintaining the website up-time is managed by the hosting provider only.

While in shared hosting service, you will get other options too, like managing the emails, handling the other sites , DNS configuration and all other related things are handled by the shared hosting service.

I would recommend top go with shared hosting instead of WordPress hosting because you will get multiple options to handle the sites, DNS , emails as well as WordPress too.

There is no difference between Shared Hosting and WordPress hosting. The Hosting Provider will just set and config the Wordpress script for you with some good plugin to start but for the rest is there no differences.

Shared hosting and WordPress hosting are not the same.

There are two types of WordPress web hosts; those who market WordPress and only put customers on a Shared host...leaving them to setup their own security and cache through plugins, and those who are actual WordPress web hosts that do not place customers on a Shared web host, and also take care of security and caching for the customer...not leaving them to setup more plugins.
