What do you think is the best software for digital portraits? I learned the basics in my Adobe illustrator class. It's great for creating realistic portraits since it has a gradient mesh. However, when I look for tutorials they are always in Photoshop. Also, I think that the pen tool look better in Photoshop even though Illustrator is made by the same people. I do know that some people prefer other softwares too. So what do you think is the best?

Hi there! I personally use Photoshop light room and it's really great for editing portraits especially in raw format. I also use Adobe Photoshop to retouch my pictures. I have never used adobe illustrator so I don't know how it works.

I know Corel or Illustrator is better than Photoshop in creating vector images but for digital portraits then you should go with Photoshop.
Because Photoshop has popular or easy tools which support create difficult type of digital portraits quickly and easier.
Just curious, have you create some digital portraits?
If yes, can you share us some types you created? I would like to have a look before suggesting which is the best to go with.

I believe if you're using the pen tool for drawing, Illustrator will be the better fit for you.

But if you want to explore other methods like using graphics tablets to hand draw, then Photoshop would be the way to go. You'll still be able to use the pen tool for your drawings, but they won't be vector and the way to do certain things on Photoshop might be different than on Illustrator.

There are lots of software have those are works very well, some of the are below:

- Cyberlink: works for facial changes
- Facefilter3: best for working with makeup on face
- Nova development: For effect it works well

these are some software which are works well with photos, but if you are thinking about professional way then Photoshop, Coreldraw, illustrator is the best because of its unique feature, and professionals uses these softwares.
