Can anyone tell me What are web design trends for 2017? I am buying a new theme from themeforest and it would be easier to choose one if I know the trends for web design this year. Thanks

Less use of over-animation. Smaller or even micro interactions. (Think buttons.)

Material design is huge at the minute, you see a lot of website incorporating some kind of material design into their new website.

I would recommend visiting some of the top websites out there and trying to follow their lead especially those that do similar things as you. For example, if you're building a forum for web design, google web design forums and visit some of the top search results. Simple as that.
