I'm really curious if you've ever signed a customer who found through searching forums. Me personally I search google and go from there. I have had a lot of fraudulent sign ups I'm sure were from forums I've posted in. Anyone have good luck getting clients from forums?

I never search hosting packages from Google because some hosting providers are using adwords to advertise their hosting services and its pricing is pretty high. I bought VPS packages after reading reviews of customers used them, mostly reviews come from forums and blogs.

I would defiantly say yes :D

However as energizedit said forum advertising does attract people with bad intent, Spammers etc.
I've had people use my live chat and say "oh hi I found you on ........." and many of the referring URLS come from forums.

Definitely! :great:

I would choose recommendations from forums over Google. Google usually favours the ones who pay Google the most money in Adwords, or they favour them from EIGs affiliates all linking to EIG causing them to rank higher in Google, maybe?

I trust reviews on forums more than Google results.

I always look for reviews on forums when searching for web hosting, that's how you find all the good deals, too!

I think lots of people use forums when searching for web hosting. It's the smart thing to do, since there are plenty of reviews and easy ways of contacting the web host owner. THOUSANDS of people browse forums every day, so it is definitely a good marketing idea.

Eh it just depends on the forum if your searching like WHT for good deals you can find them usually when you type if hosting forums or anything like that WHT comes up. I don't think forums always attract fraudulent customers it just depends on the forum you advertise on.

It's a broad perspective. All those who use Adwords aren't always bad.. and all those who have recommendations, won't always make you happy.

Why not? where has traffic there has potential customers and you can increase sales for your sites. Keeps in mind that you should promote on high traffic & active forums, that will work.
For me, I used to read offers on forums and contact some if they are fit my requirements.

Forums give us probably the best quality or traffic. It's allows the potential client to see how active the host is.

Don't expect to get sales from Facebook ads, I spent money for FB ads but no conversions. You should advertise on high traffic sites and forums but keep in mind they are related to your niches.

Yes. Forums show up in search engines too. Anyone who knows what they are doing will frequent forums. Clients from forums tend to be more technically literate than those that come from SEO.

people always like to look are forums or for others opinions on the quality of service.

I would always check forums such as this one and to see how people feel about he service they are offering before buying.

The best form of advice is from a current user.

I would be more comfortable if I get good reviews of hosting on very good Forums. Most people would prefer to go with the popular Hosting sites out there, but you can equally get good and honest reviews from people from different reputable Forums and make your choice from there.

Most probably forum reviews are the best way to get clients. Most of the review sites are biased with affiliation but forum reviews are not at all. So people can find honest reviews here.

A lot of customer base comes from forums, because generally, forums have less * biased * reviews in comparison to affliated linked reviews

You can read reviews and people's opinion about certain services on forums, however I think that usually finding hosting services are not done on forums, well in a way when you look at reviews, people in the posts might suggest some sites, so there's that too.

Excluding local clients, we have got our maximum clients from forums. If you can use a forum properly, it will work for you. Being regular in forums is an important factor for getting clients from forums.

I would rather go with Forums and I trust forums more since I can generate something from it though Adwords can also work. Interact with people who had gained from forums. Forums create a humongous amount of traffic too just so you know.

I've sold a few VPS' through forums and haven't been burned yet Forums can be good for both a host an perspective client as it allows for a bit of vetting before going ahead with a transaction.
