I always install ConfigServer Security & Firewall (CSF) on my hosting servers and it protected a bit more Brute force attacks. However, cPanel introduced cPHulk and I rarely use cPHulk which seems to do the same features but with far fewer configuration options.
I am now considering dropping CSF and running with just cPHulk. Has anyone got a good result with cPHulk? Any reviews? which one is better, cPHulk or CSF?

CSF has many more features including the firewall etc while cPHulk is brute force protection.
It does a great job of Brute Force protection however lacks many features which CSF has. If you need something simple go for cPHulk but if you need something really secure go for CSF.

Im unsure if CSF can replace cPhulk in its cPanel/WHM login failure monitoring/banning.
But cPhulk cant replace CSF which is very versatile software that helps block bad traffic. CSF is a must for someone running web server.

cpHulk is just a bruteforce preventing syste, But CSF actually works as a fireall. CSF is the best thing.

APF deserves a mention, always found it very decent.

Hello jmlopez,

There are several factors to consider when choosing between cPHulk and CSF. Here are some key considerations:-

Ease of use: cPHulk is widely considered easier to use than CSF, making it a good choice for those unfamiliar with complex security configurations.
Functionality: CSF offers a more comprehensive set of features than cPHulk, including the ability to block specific IP addresses, monitor traffic and bandwidth usage, and more.
Security features: Both cPHulk and CSF offer a range of security features, but CSF offers more advanced options.
Cost: cPHulk is the cheaper option of the two.
Compatibility: CSF is compatible with more servers and software than cPHulk.
Support: Both cPHulk and CSF offer excellent support, but CSF's support is more comprehensive.
Pricing: CSF is a free, open-source solution, while cPHulk is a paid solution.
Support: cPHulk comes with 24/7 support from cPanel, while CSF does not offer direct support.

However, there are many online resources available for troubleshooting CSF issues. In general, both cPHulk and CSF are good choices for website security. cPHulk is a brute force protection system that comes pre-installed on all cPanel servers. It works by blocking IP addresses that have been involved in too many failed login attempts. It can be effective at stopping brute force attacks, but it can also block legitimate users if they accidentally enter their password wrong too many times.

CSF is a firewall that you can install on your server. It's available for both Linux and Windows servers. CSF can block malicious traffic before it even reaches your website. It also includes several other security features, such as rate limiting and intrusion detection. So, which one is better? It really depends on your needs. If you're looking for something quick and easy to set up, cPHulk might be a good option. However, if you want more comprehensive protection, CSF is worth considering.

Thus, I hope the above information helps you understand the difference between cPHulk or CSF.
