Hey Dev as a software dev you should definitely consider eBay as an alternative place to advertise, sell and distribute your software.
Just as you might already do for Amazon, Shopify or Craigslist etc, it has large numbers of people that would make ideal clients for you.
What you should do is search eBay for your software and see if there's anyone else selling it or similar to it first.
Then look at their profile, see their items for sale, items sold, their feedback, see how they send the product/software etc
Get an idea of what they're doing and how they're doing it and see how successful they are with it to gauge if it will be beneficial to you.
Darnel is right in that there is a lot of red tape to cut through and barriers to break down as a new seller.
It's the eBay Power Sellers that make really good money and it's not easy to get there but not impossible either, if you have a good product to sell.
There are also many software categories on eBay. A great ideal is to visit each category or those most related to you and view by "sold".
That way you can see what some of the latest software is selling on there.
Here's a link to that search

Also when it comes to selling your software, the good thing about eBay is the different types of listings you can have, either Buy it Now, Bid Auction or Classified ad.
Classified ads can list good til sold I think for eBay US and are cheap. BIN's are quick to sell at the right price but auctions attract more bidders/views.
So you might have to experiment and find out which one of those works best for you or do all three as many sellers do anyway.
Hope this helps and good luck to you! eBay has made many people a lot of money no doubt!
