Do links in javascript codes affect seo rankings?

Hey guys, I am using some website services on my site that required to install their javascript code with link in it.

I'd like to know it can impact SEO rankings or not when having external links in javascript codes on my webpage source?

some say it might affect your site negatively as it might confuse the search engines. Personally, I have never had trouble using javascript, although I have only dealt with a couple projects w/ it.

In the context you have described I don't see a problem.. After all in order to use a web service you need to make a call to it using a URL.... As it is part of a Javascript function the only the thing which will matter is the rendered output provided by the service... The same thing applies to external stylesheets, ajax server calls etc... These links are not displayed to the user and therefore has no impact...

When it does matter is when you use a javascript link for user navigation... If it is a derived link then Google bot may not be able to crawl it or if it can then as with all displayed links it will inherit proportion of link juice from the parent page to the child page which it references...

The use of javascript is not break your SEO planning. There are other so many factors which directly affect your rankings like keyword research, backlinks quality, internal links, keyword density etc.
