Wordpress is widely used and has lots of plugins but I heard Drupal is more secure so if you need something simple and secure you might want to try Drupal but if you need plugins and themes then you are better with wordpress.

WordPress is probably the easiest CMS for beginners and the most powerful CMS on the web for blogs and personal websites. It has ten times more users than Drupal, but that’s only due to its ease of use and popularity. Initially instituted as a system for blogs, WordPress evolved into the fully-functional CMS that is now, positioned as the biggest tool for website creation in the world. It has its own web hosting and at the moment it’s being used by about 1/3 of websites on the entire Internet. Using WordPress is great for a beginning blogger or website builder, but advanced users and developers can also have fun with lots of interesting features.

Drupal is a favorite solution among government websites, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and global corporations. It proudly serves the official website of the White House. This is an amazingly powerful CMS that can be used for almost any kind of website. The main beauty of Drupal is that it was specifically designed to be SEO optimized. It also has high safety, reliability and flexibility levels. It can’t boast the same level of users as WordPress, but Drupal has a large community with a high level of activity. This content management system is suitable for any advanced users with developer experience. But unlike WordPress, it’s not suitable for all types of users in general. If you are not an experienced developer you may need to hire one for this CMS to work for you properly. However, Drupal is a dream for the experienced site owner because of its unique abilities of deep individual customization.

Generally speaking Drupal is faster, but Wordpress is easier to work with for those not familliar with CMS'es. Also Drupal doesn't have auto update feature and dated core can cause lots of security issues.

Drupal has much more possibilities, but if you are a beginner it will be too difficult for you. It depends on your ambitions

WordPress and Drupal both are CMS (Content management Systems). But Drupal offer way more than content management.

1) WordPress: - WordPress started as just a blogging application but it soon took a path of popularity and now its common choice among developers and clients to make simple but effective Content management application

As WordPress evolved developers around world develop plugins around WordPress by using them you can create marvelous application ranging from just content management to simple e-commerce application.

2) Drupal:- Great open source application having lots of capability. If you are wishing to making an application which you think as product where you have lots of users, their associated roles and permission. You have right choice with you "Drupal".

As Drupal is open source, here also you can get free modules. (In WordPress it is called as plugin and in Drupal it is called as Modules.) Same as with theme

There are many similarities between WordPress and Drupal Developers like they are both free and open-source content management systems. If you choose any of them then it might be a mere choice of yours. But WordPress outperforms Drupal in terms of plugins and themes that make it more preferable for beginners. And, if you are to work on an advanced and complex platform to build robust websites then Drupal could be the right choice.

Both WordPress and Drupal are open source CMS that accomplish the same thing in the end. However, there are some major differences between them.

WordPress evolved from a blogging platform. It is a solution for websites managed by one person. WordPress is the simplest CMS to use. However it's popularity makes it a target for hacker attacks so you’ll need regular backups and non-mainstream plugins.

Drupal is the most flexible content management system. Within Drupal you can define your own data structures and relationships beyond the articles, users etc. It is a very comprehensive CMS. It’s functionality can be extended with the help of modules and themes. However, they are much harder to write than for WordPress because of the complexity of the system. If you need to implement something unique on your platform, Drupal may work.
