Most lightweight opensource ecommerce platform?

I have several clients and they are wanting to build ecommerce websites to sell their products. I want to host all websites on a VPS but as I read on posts then current ecommerce platforms are very wight to load and can cause overload on my server if I put all in one. I am in search for the most lightweight and opensource ecommerce script for them. Any recommendations?

You can either go with OpenCart or Woocommerce.

how many product have you?

if you are few product woocommerce it's fine.

For more 3k product i suggest prestashop or magento.

With bad configuring or not optimized code, any lightweight platform can run slow. Personally, I would go with OpenCart, PrestaShop or Joomla.

Magento would be great for customization, but I would not call it lightweight.
