Cheap .io domains?

I want to have a new domain with .io extension but as I checked on name.com, its price is pretty high, $99/year. Some months ago, I checked and it is just around $30 to $40 for a year, I don't think its price increased fast like that.

That TLD has become very popular and prices have increased.
But I'd suggest you shop around for a better price than that. Enom is selling for $58/yr, namecheap is similar price also. Those are still a lot cheaper than what you have found.

.io is rarely offered at discount by many registrars. Anything under $40 is pretty reasonable for this TLD.
