How to install windows on VPS ?

Hello!

This is one complex subject for me and I would like if you can guide me trough it.

Any help will be useful.

I wanted to install latest available version of Windows ( 10, preferably ) on VPS.

Is there any way I can do it ?

You actually can but you need a KVM, Xen HVM or VMware VPS that supports custom OS images (the tricky part) and a Windows license of course. The easier way is to find a Windows VPS provider and get a working solution out of the box.

VPS providers will break Microsoft tos if they allow to use any other windows except windows servers, which you need a spla license from them(per core) Another one if a isp dont care about tos then just get what Marcus said virtualization types with IPMI/vnc/KVM console and try to install it manually.

have you already considered using a public cloud provider such as Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure?

Hello, if you use onapp control panel for vps, they has option load your iso, and after reboot you can boot from your iso and install any OS to your VPS.

What controll panel you have for VPS ?

I do not recommand you Windows 10 for RDP usage, at first because there is no way to get license from hosting providers (or not legally) but also because it's a desktop Operating System not intended for RDP usage (automatic reboot after updates, random shutdown after inactivity periods etc.. )

You can install Windows on Hetzner public cloud VPS because there are Windows Server 2012/2016 iso directly available from VPS management dashboard. Then you will just have to buy a license to activate windows.
Otherwise, you can try with pre-builded image from https://joodle.nl/how-to-install-windows-server-2016-on-ovh-kimsufi-or-soyoustart-servers/, it should work on KVM virtualization.

Either the provider or yourself can install windows on the VPS if the virtualization being used supports it, for example KVM. If you rent a VPS from a provider, contact them before you try anything, it may save you much work.
