Hi everyone,

Can you tell me how to know if my VPS disk is using a SSD or HDD? I would check this via SSH if possible.

Thank you!

Download and run this script on your server: https://github.com/n-st/nench

Find the following line in the output:

Code:
dd test
    1st run: 339.51 MiB/s
    2nd run: 345.23 MiB/s
    3rd run: 342.37 MiB/s
    average: 342.37 MiB/s
Anything above 100 Mib/s would be acceptable for an SSD VPS. If your server ranks lower, most likely it's not pure SSD.

Be careful running that script however, if you do it continually depending on the provider you may set off abuse flags depending on their monitoring.

In general thou read/write speed is a good indicator but check your providers TOS as well, sometimes a VPS may be rate-limited on IOPS and Disk I/O as well so that won't 100% guarantee if it's a SSD or not.
