Can you tell me why .host domain is cheap while .hosting is more expensive? Is there a difference between two these domain extensions?

They are not managed by the same registry.

.host is managed by Radix and are in promotion since a while now...
.hosting is managed by Uniregistry

personnaly, I will never buy any domain with an extension managed by Uniregistry. Last year, they make a 300% price increase for some extension. Godaddy and Tucows have stopped to sell some Uniregistry extensions because of this...

There has been quite a backlash against Uniregistry. I understand why they did it because they wern't getting the volume on their TLDs so were making a loss. However that was entirely their fault for their original choice of TLDs they pursued and their original price point not being low enough to attract the volume or not being high enough to be targeted at the enthusiast.

As a consumer I wouldn't be happy using any of their extensions as you don't know what you are going to be paying in the future.

The price difference is due to different domain registries managing each extension. I doubt there is any difference in absolute cost to the registries between the two, aside from different promotional costs and different profit margins.

It is a very good question.
