What is the difference between SSD and SSD-Cached?

When I check a VPS company they are offering SSD and SSD-cached. What is the difference and which one should I choose? why?

Probably main diff is pure ssd will have faster disk i/o writes and random disk i/o reads than ssd-cached. But it's all relative to the underlying SSD brand/modules used.

The SSD drive is a pure solid state and thus has fast I/O, the hybrid SSHD (standard HDD+SSD cache) have a classic HD combined with a small SSD used as cache and managed by the firmware of the SSHD, slower I/O than pure SSD.

Regarding your choice you should consider if your hosted applications will be using storage intensively and whether you will be able to use SSD benefits if not then SSD cached hosting should be enough.

A HDD with an SSD cache on it will be slightly faster than a HDD.

A SSD Cache (separate drive) works along normal HDD. It can speed up load times and softwares programs that you regularly use. It copy the load files onto the SSD cache.

A pure SSD is great. It is much faster than a normal HDD, or than a HDD with SSD Cache.

The pure SSD is expensive than a normal HDD, or than a HDD with SSD Cache because it works much faster. For example, for our VPS servers we use SSD storage with guaranteed speeds.

What is the difference between SSD and SSD-Cached?
