I personally use SecureCRT (https://www.vandyke.com/products/securecrt/index.html) as it supports all platforms and provides some excellent features over Putty. Since primarily, I work on an Macbook, its great. No its not free, nor is it really considered cheap, but its an excellent product and I personally never want to look back.

This is a paid version, I am just curious what are excellent features of SecureCRT that you mentioned?
If it is really better than Putty, I would give it a go.

The 4 features I find that are a cant live without are:

1. Connection Manager - While with most of our servers we use a non-standard SSH port (Something other then 22), there are a few that for 3rd party script compatibility that have to stay on port 22, so the ability to store the settings for each server in the connection manager is amazing. It will also remember passwords if you want it to, but I do not use that feature. Most servers are with SSH Keys, the few that are passwords, we have a secure password vault that we must look them up from.

2. Scripting - The abilty to have commonly used scripts that can be run a click of a button is amazing. There are some commands that we run often on servers to do different things. While it could be considered lazy, some of them get kinda long and complex, the ability to have them in a script prevents fat fingered typos

3. Tabs - The ability to have multiple SSH connections is invaluable. Much like having multiple tabs in your browser.

4. Session Cloning - With Tabs, the ability to right click and open a new session to the same server in a new tab is amazing, especially when you are running a long script in one tab, but want to check on something else as it runs in the background.

The other things that are nice, but not used everyday:

Keyword Highlighting - very useful when scanning logs for multiple values and do not fell like creating a long grep command.

SFTP client - Having the builtin SFTP client can be useful if you need to send a quick file. Keeps from having to launch a separate client and login.

SecureCRT is an update to the long used SecureShell that was used by many universities and actually what I started on. I have used putty at times over the years and it always makes me hate life and want beat my head against the table when I do not have the functionality I am use too.
