Why would you ever want to have a higher Alexa rank? It's a useless metric that can be easily manipulated. Alexa ranking tells you how many monthly visitors come to a site, however, you can use bots to manipulate this which renders it useless. If you want a reliable metric system I'd recommend using SEMRush It is a better system to use if you want to know more about a website's data (organic traffic, paid traffic, backlinks, anchor text, etc). If you want to know the backlink histoey of a site thet I reccoment majestic.

Hope you find this information useful.
Have an amazing day! :)

I'll ask you a question back. Why do you think an higher Alexa ranking will increase anything?

My answer is to forget about Alexa and focus on quality content and links to get your site ranking well in Google, then focus on optimizing conversions on the resulting visitors.

A method that used to work for increasing Alexa (not sure if it still works or not) was to install the Alexa toolbar for Firefox into your Firefox web browser. Then every time you visited your site, it would improve your visitor statistics. Maybe that still works and maybe it doesn't. I know it used to work though.

I don't think Alexa is that important anymore. At least I don't care about them. Been selling sites since 2010 on Flippa and different forums and the buyer didn't care about Alexa.

Just as a general thing.

I use serplab.co.uk - it's a free rank tracker tool.

And for traffic analytics, I use "clicky" and Google Analytics. I also have installed on my WordPress sites -> Jetpack plugin. Because sometimes Google Analytics is not showing the correct amount of visitors coming to your site.

Just curious why you know Google Analytics is not showing the correct amount of visitors? or you think it happened that.

I think Alexa still helpful in any cases if we want to measure traffic from history of a website

I have friends who use clicky and Google Analytics, and they can see a difference in the visitors / day. Clicky shows more visitors then Analytics. Also, if your doing some blackhat SEO for your websites, like building PBN and other blackhat stuff (first of all you need to cover your tracks) - Google is not your friend. It's the biggest spying tool on the web, along site Facebook. Hope this makes sense.

If your looking to measure a competitors website traffic, rankings and other juicy stuff, head over to:
Code:
similarweb.com
semrush
This two website will show an approximate number of visitors to your competitors website, or any other website your curious about, rankings and so on.

Give them a try.
