Doing SEO is not easy especially on competitive keywords and I guess your keywords are among those which are more competitive but my advice is that you should focus more on getting more quality back links and social medias to get enough traffic.

You mentioned "good backlinks on social media" can you please elaborate this. And what is quality in Link Building? Because he said his website is based on Wallpapers.. As per my opinion wallpapers are as images so in SEO if you want to rank your website then use ALT tag ( Alternate text ) for all wallpapers. Use main important keywords as alternate text and you will the difference.....

Thanks

Wallpaper related websites are highly searched with less and highly compitative keywords. But the plus point is that , you can easily focus on any niche to make your traffic higher. Each and every person wants to download different categories wallpapers, what we have to focus are, create valuable back links only which helps you to make a good afect on your site's ranking.

Ok, I agree with what Audra A. Young said:

Wallpaper related websites are highly searched with less competition and are highly competitive keywords. And a point in favor is that you can easily focus on any niche to make your traffic higher.
Each and every person wants to download wallpapers on different categories, what we have to focus on is, creating high-quality back-links which will help you make a good affect on your page's rankings.

Doing SEO for wallpaper websites isn't different from the rest of the websites (unless we are talking about local SEO).

Here's what you need to do in order to bump your pages in the search results:

Since you have a wallpaper website, you should have categories for every single one of them correct?
What you need to promote are those categories on high-authority sites (niche related sites).
Example: Let's say that you have a category about cars, all you have to do is; Get high-quality backlinks from relevant sites, which in this particular case happen to be cars.

You go to Google and type "keyword" (which in this example is car) guest post.

»»» "keyword" guest post

You will get a ton of sites that allow you to guest post on them. Now, all you have to do is examine those websites and determine if they are worth the effort to guest post.

Here's what I check in order to determine if they are worth my time.

  • They need to have a minimum of 10 in trust flow. You need the extension majestic backlink analyzer for this.
  • URL rating of 10+. This is an ahrefs metric, you can get the extension for Chrome and/or Firefox.
  • Have a great domain rating (20+). Again, ahrefs metric.

Once the above is cleared I check their backlinks in order to see what I can expect to get in terms of "juice flow".

If they comply with that criteria, I talk to the owner of the site for the possibility of guest posting.
Also, when you do guest posting, make sure to provide high amounts of value, don't go posting crappy content, especially spun content. Never do that!

You'll need to do this for every category you want to get ranked. Also, I'm assuming you've already checked your competition for your keyword. If you haven't then, you need to do it, check how many referring IPs they have pointing to their page and that will give you an idea of the amount of links you will need.

Remember, don't go checking the amount of backlinks they have. I high-quality industry backlink can be worth thousands of crappy web 2.0 backlinks.

I hope this helps you get your website's pages ranked =)

Have a great day,

Nowadays the number of people doing SEO pretty much, they compete for the keywords with quality content and backlinks but quite not care about the quality of images. However, If you get high rankings with your images on search engines then it is one of the sources that bring more traffic to your site.

Some SEO factors to make your wallpaper website get better rankings on SEs:

Format and size: One thing to be noted when you create the image that is used for quality .jpg format as well, litmit to us with .png format because with with .jpg then your site is more optimal in terms of download speed, which is one of the important factors in assessing the rankings. Besides the format for images, do not use the image size is too large also affect the speed of loading web pages, you can use some online image tools like Gtmetrix or Pagespeed to optimize your images.

Images name: Pay attention to the image name. This factor plays an important role as the optimal Url for an article, you also need to name photos with keywords to increase capability compete with other images on search results.

Add caption: The use caption of images help to easily identify the content that you want to describe for that image, so you need a clear description of the image content and at the same time containing the keywords you need SEO. Also, if you use unreasonable caption it also affects the bounce rate, if it's not relevant then the users can press the back button immediately is pretty high.

Title and Alt: Want to get high ranking for the image, the title/alt for the picture is as important as what you named for the title of an article. Put with the keywords, no need to put exactly as caption named, you can change according to the context.

Position of images: you need to pay to the content around the image because Google would review the content around the image as the relationship between images and content or not. Therefore, you should pay attention to this factor to put your image for better ranking on search engines...

Hope that helps!

I would change strategies. Concentrate on "Longtail" keywords and get a lot of them. Even if they are around 50 to 100 searches a month, the reason? Less competition and if you can get a lot of them this will almost makeup for the kws that have a higher search count. You will rank even if you have pratically no content for the reason stated before.
Hope this helps.

Since its a competitive niche,
What is a competitive niche? are you talking about SEO for a wallpaper site is more competitive?
I don't think it is hard to SEO for images (wallpapers), just adding alt text and a bit more good content around/beside each wallpaper, will help it get good rankings on Google...as @Maxwell mentioned in the previous reply.

Yeh research "Longtail" keywords can help you get better title for each wallpaper but it's impossible if you have thousands of wallpapers on websites...using a standard title, applying for all and adding again in the description of the wallpapers can help improve ranks for the wallpapers on search engines.

I'd say you go to flippa, find a wallpaper site which has traffic and revenue, and start spying on it. Check backlink profile, on-page, etc.

If flippa is not working for you, go to Google.com - or what Google you want, type in your keyword, and analyze the top 10 results. Not including the ads, which Google is displaying.

Check them out, each and everyone, check what kind of backlinks they have, how the site is structured, where are the ads on the site, what did the webmaster do for on-page optimization.

Good luck!

If you are struggling to find content ideas related to wallpaper directly, maybe take a step outwards and offer value to people who would be using wallpaper. For example, you could provide a series of blog posts and tutorials regarding interior design. Once you have provided value and captured the attention of your visitor, you can sell them your wallpaper products.

Plus, there are going to be a lot more people searching the internet for interior design related topics than there will be for just a specific wallpaper.

Ideally, you could find a niche group of people and provide truly valuable content for them. An example of this would be: interior design for home offices.

Id say doing seo for the keyword of "wallpaper" would be as difficult as doing keywords "water"

Id say your best bet would be to find a niche like "cute dog wallpaper" even then it very difficult.

Dont get discouraged and find a unique way to get your website out there.
