The main gain is for the client who can use his own hardware, but does not need to worry about electricity, IP address, bandwidth, cooling system, protection from power outages, data center security and maintenance.

The gain for the provider is when he has free space for more hardware, but does not want to fill it with his own hardware until he has more clients.
