Hi DaRecordon,

A great question and yes, it is definitely possible. Let me try to answer it in brief.

These are core four steps to get started:
1) Define Your Web Hosting Brand
2) Find a Good Hosting Service Provider
3) Set up Your Website, Billing System, and Support Channels
4) Grow and Expand

First of all you need to have a clear goal where you want to target your hosting brand, for example, if you are living in India and you want to target US, you need to first understand their laws and policies or perhaps you can start along with one of your friends from the US, because someone who knows everything about him/her country and It will be easy to get started and build a strong team.

Once you have made the initial plan, you need to find a good hosting service provider who can help you out from the scratch to host a site, licensing, and set up a billing software (I would recommend WHMCS).

After you can start advertising your brand on social networks and search engines to get clients. The Most important thing in web hosting business is to stick with the plans and provide support though-out, If you only dream of starting a business and earn money you won't be survived, because constant support and taking follow-ups with the clients if they are happy with our support and services or not is also important.

I also believe diversity in team work is a necessity to understand the requirements and grow our business.

Kind regards,

1) Define Your Web Hosting Brand
If you are an agency of a web hosting company. Do we need this?
2) Find a Good Hosting Service Provider
Why?
3) Set up Your Website, Billing System, and Support Channels
Which website system and billing/support system do you recommend?
4) Grow and Expand
Which marketing method are you using? forums, social media or Google ads? or something else?

Depends, I have answered to OP's general question, but you will need to have a website name / brand name to get started.

That's a big why always, you need to find a hosting provider who can help you out from the scratch as you are opening a new hosting business.

Which website system and billing/support system do you recommend?
I would highly recommend WHMCS.

Which marketing method are you using? forums, social media or Google ads? or something else?
We are using Forums, Social Media, and pure SEO no google ads yet.

SEO is really good option as it is very long term as compare to running ads and keep investing.
I also recommend WHMCS as this support all the automation for hosting company which includes ticketing/orders/billing etc.

Web hosting business could be made anywhere and from any part of the world :) Start easily with the Reseller account, or get a powerful VPS / Dedicated Server, install cPanel & WHM, create hosting plans and promote! You may also hire a support guy (or provide service yourself) to help your customers. Ideally, a good web hosting provider would help you with this all and also with the correct advices, if you partner with them ;)
