Where is the best place to buy cheap litespeed license for my VPS server? I am wanting to try this web server but needing some providers offer it with low price. Many thanks!

It will usually be your VPS provider themselves if they are a LiteSpeed hosting partner. Else, take a look at buycpanel.com.

Yes, you will not see massive discounts on LiteSpeed licenses, the price for hosting partners such as ourselves are not too different either.

There is not much of a price difference like mentioned above, however your best bet would be buycpanel.com

Is there a specific reason that you require Litespeed webserver? In most cases fine tuning apache will offer performance gains and hardly any noticable difference at the end-users side.

I would beg to differ, LiteSpeed vs Apache has noticeable performance differences especially when it comes to processing PHP and more so on a web shared hosting environment i.e as a web host we have seen significant differences in overall performance and server loads. Not to forget, the decent application layer protection that LiteSpeed can offer.

Ofcourse there is a huge difference between bare out of the box apache and litespeed. But if you have the knowledge how to finley tune and modify apache according to your needs you have a very powerful open source webserver, with almost no limitations. Otherwise if unfamiliar with the process is best to stick with litespeed.

Do you have any data or real life tests to back that? What specific optimizations are your referring to? In all of our tests as well as production deployments on both client servers as well as a few of our cPanel nodes LiteSpeed consistently outperformed Apache especially when it comes to servers above operating at above say about 40-50% of its capacity.

Stackoverflow and stackexchange have plenty of good examples where software developers modify apache to their needs and specific requirements. Download the source code, modify, compile and install it.

In your tests it was most likely standard Apache vs Litespeed which can't be really compared since its pretty obvious which one is going to win. Not implying that a heavily modified apache will outperform LiteSpeed, however performance wise at the end-user level the difference will be hardly noticable.

You are clearly not too familiar with software development... A team of decent software developers with a big enough of a budget could revamp apache to outperform most popular web servers.

Litespeed does not allow adult websites, thats why those are so slow and have issues serving millions of veiwers simultaneously? Most of them use their own modified version of nginx or apache 2.x which are configured to run just as fast as LiteSpeed.

So? What's your point? By that logic, a team of good software developers can re-create cPanel and make it better in every way possible. The conversation here was never about what can be better rather about what is better.

Standard Apache was never compared to LiteSpeed in any of our replies, you solely keep bringing up and comparing those two. The original post was about a fine tuned Apache as a suggestion for OP to look for free alternatives since their concern was regarding license price. We never claimed that Apache is superior to LiteSpeed in any way, just that the end-user experience won't suffer performance wise, if the web server is configured properly. There is plenty of easy to follow tutorials that offer atleast basic knowledge about Apache performance tuning. Besides we don't know why OP requires LiteSpeed, in their situation a fine tuned apache might work equally well if not better. Knowing Dr. McKay as a tech savvy FWH member for a while now, it was not an unreasonable suggestion to begin with.
