Is a Dedicated Server more secure than a VPS?

I don't know if this is true but i think a dedicated server is more secure than a VPS, I could not clarify this. how can anyone answer me? if yes then why?

Not necessarily. The server is as secure as you make it. The security of a dedicated server and a VPS are almost identical in the sense that you will have to configure and optimize your server software and install any helpful additions (ClamAV, MailScanner, CSF, iptables, php.ini hardening, httpd.conf optimization, etc.)

If your provider manages the dedicated server they will most likely have their hardware firewall and certain protection which you might have to buy as an addon to your dedicated server. Other than that, it's practically the same.

Like Optimidia said, there is no difference between a dedicated server and a vps because with a bad configuration, you will have the same security issues

Very basic thing .. nothing is secured unless and until you secure and harden it. A vps or a dedicated server needs hardening and security and in order to get expected results it needs optimization of the available resources.

There are some hardware protections that can be put in place and being in full control of all server resources reduces risks of things like privilege escalation, but overall i think there isn't a huge difference as long as you know what you are doing.

But vps have a limited dependence
