It all depends really. If writing is your thing, then a blog would probably be more effective. But it depends on what you like doing.

I personally think that it's way too many. .Com is king, and will continue to be for a decent length of time. It's just hard as well to remember all of these extensions.

If W3 isn't working out, I would recommend WP Super cache. Simple to set up and I use it for all of my sites.

You definitely need to be careful about copyright stuff. And it is very murky and unclear for a lot of things. I think for adsense, the tos states that it has to be for your own content. But you would need to double check that.

TBH, I don't think it would matter much since I don't believe most people would go and check that.
