Broken links are always bad. Whenever I go to a website that has broken links my first thought is to not buy from them.

Broken Links have bad effect on SEO and bad impact on your site's visitors.
If you are running a wordpress site then broken link checker is recommended for this purpose. I would suggest unlinking all the broken links and link text should also be removed done if its in the written form on your site.

I installed a plugin to detect broken links in my site, and there are 2-3 broken links. These are harmful for the site or not ? Should I remove them ?
If you know about them, why wouldn't you just remove them? In terms of SEO, some people think you'll lose link juice through busted links, but I haven't seen a definitive answer.

Hello.
Only 2-3 broken links are not a big deal, it's ok. You can fix it with 301 redirect to homepage or assigned page. WMT will update after few days.

Clicking on such links, blog readers go to non-existing pages or try to download files that are no longer there. After going nowhere, visitors usually rarely return to your site. You lose readers.

Broken links are seen by the search engines, and when the number of such links on your blog reaches a certain limit, your site begins to sink in the search results, i.e. he loses his position, descends lower in the results of search engines, and if nothing is done, the site can get banned and finally fly from the search. The influx of visitors from search engines to your blog will stop.

Yes, in my consideration it is bad!!
Why, because it is the part of the Negative SEO, that lower the credibility and alluring of the website. Remember Content is the part to be focused more, as Content is the king, as said by Bill gates in 1996, and he means it, still, it is going on.
Certain Considerations are
  • Bounce rate will increase
  • Trust rate of the page will go off
  • 404 Errors and broken/pages links will occur and cause your rankings to suffer… at least based on what I have seen!
Also, Broken Links will eventually remove it from its index, but if you have a broken link pointing to a 404 then yes you are leaking PR.

Definitely, broken links are harmful to the website as they create bad requests and also confuse the bots and the visitors. So having a close eye on the broken links is very important. One can do that with the numerous free tools available online.

There are some ways that broken links will damage your efforts to position yourself in search engines like Google. For example, if you are linking to a page within your site and that link is broken, search engine spiders will have trouble finding it.

When they get to that page, 404 error is not found, the content you worked so hard to create and promote receives no love from search engines. Once you reach that broken link, move on to the next one and to the pages that don't. The trace is not indexed.

When website developers delete a linked page, place an incorrect URL in a text link, or change a URL address without correctly updating the URL, a broken link is created. In other words, when searchers or web crawlers browse through your website and open the link, they may be directed to a page with a 404 error.

If there are broken links on your webpage or website, it can terminate search engine spiders from crawling your site and, thus, indexing it. Broken links(404 errors) stimulate users to move on to the next site rather than walking stick and hope they will get the information they need from a broken page. When users get broken link errors, it can influence your repeat user ratio and affect your website’s conversion rates. It’s just reliable it to fix those broken links.

No Broken links are not harmful unless the link redirects you to a different page after the original is closed then it can be harmful.

Exactly, any broken link on your website is the reason for customer dissatisfaction. It is like, that when you are going to any party and suddenly you find that the road you are following has no way. Then what you will do? Obviously you will take another route, in the same way, if your website has any broken (404) link then redirect it with 301 plugins. In the setting section, you will get the option of redirecting the old link with the new one. If you want to rank your page on 1st page of SERP then you have to stronghold your website free from any broken links.
